Ryan and Candace Mikesell started Mountain West Forensics LLC in May 2024. We are a Forensic Engineering Company that specializes in providing professional evaluations on residential and commercial properties pertaining to the building envelope or the structure. We have the experience necessary to design, detail, and illustrate structural repairs for damaged residential and commercial properties.

Hail and Wind

Hail and wind can be damaging to roofing products, but how do we determine whether the damage was actually caused by the hail or wind? While going through the presentation we will discuss the process of determining whether hail and wind damage occurred to various roofing materials as well as examine how weather research and collateral damage adds to the evaluation.

Effects of Fire and Heat

We will discuss the effects of fire and heat to common building materials such as concrete, steel, and wood.  We will also assess the materials for damages from fire and heat using common tools and techniques. Demonstrations and testing will also be conducted showing what fire and heat damaged materials look like and how they perform.
